Spearmint for respiratory infections

The mucostatic decongestant effect of Spearmint essential oil on excessive mucus production is especially evident in the bronchial and sinus area. Thanks to its ketones, Spearmint essential oil is recommended when an acute respiratory infection produces thick and purulent sputum, either through coughing or from the nose. The oil will act not only as a mucolytic expectorant, but also by reducing mucus overproduction at the source.

In the case of fever, Spearmint essential oil gently lowers the body temperature by relaxing blood vessels (which allow more blood to reach the surface) and pores (which open to help release heat) and by stimulating sweating (which in turn cools the body and helps release toxins). Its sedative action on the nerves, although quite mild, is especially useful in addressing fevers of any kind where irritability, restlessness or agitation is present.

The appropriate application methods in these situations are: + aromatic application, using an essential oil diffuser or by dripping any natural aromatherapy jewelry or ornament + topical application, especially on the chest and back, diluted appropriately. Cold compresses with essential oil can help with fever. + internal application, especially rectal application (suppositories), which is one of the most effective methods for respiratory problems.
In the Recommended protocols section you will find several blends containing Spearmint essential oil that are suitable for respiratory infections.
Always consult your doctor or therapist before taking essential oils!

As a Special Education teacher this resonates so well with me. Fighting with gen ed teachers to flatten for the students with learning disabilities. It also confirms some things for me in my writing.

Since our attention spans seem to be shrinking by the day — keeping it simple is more important than ever.
