New monograph - Usnea
12 May. 2025Alina Murar
Pine beard (Usnea spp.) is a lichen, which grows on wood, generally conifers. It has affinity for mucous membranes, the immune and respiratory systems.
Extracts of Treebeard (Usnea spp.) have been approved for over-the-counter use in some countries, including Germany.
The presence of Usnea spp. lichens is an indicator of clean air, as many of these species, especially the very sensitive ones (U. longissima), cannot live in polluted areas.
Learn more about its properties, uses and precautions in its monograph.

As a Special Education teacher this resonates so well with me. Fighting with gen ed teachers to flatten for the students with learning disabilities. It also confirms some things for me in my writing.
